ST6 Teasers

Solid Edge has authorized a few tidbits to be released about ST6. Naturally they are saving the most interesting things for later, but these will whet your appetite a little and tide you over until Solid Edge University.

The two functions being leaked out today are “reflective planes” and “arrange dimensions”.

Reflective planes are more than just the “CAD vanity” reflections, this is actually functional. Reflective modeling allows you to visualize the other half of the model. This isn’t real geometry, just for visualization. Modeling half of a part is common practice both in ordered and Synchronous modes.

Arrange Dimensions is for drawing views with dimensions that need to be realigned. You can use this for an entire view of retrieved dimensions or just for selected dimensions.

Stay tuned, there will be more “sneak peek” stuff coming…

  1. I suppose ruled surface and auto-arrange will be regarded as “catch-up” items but reflective planes is something I haven’t seen before. Does anyone know if this is unique?
Regardless, all of these items are genuinely useful pieces of functionality and VERY welcome. It really feels like the development team are getting into their stride.
