Calling all 1099s

I don’t typically follow links from spam, but this time it was a little different. I’ve had some comments to this blog get misrecognized as spam by my automatic filter. No big deal. Now I just scan the spam before I delete it to make sure I’m not throwing out the baby with the bath water.

Well this time I found something that was definitely spam, but it was almost relevant spam, if you’ll pardon the oxymoron. Some of my more popular posts have been about independent contractors and consultants. If you recognize the little bit of IRS clip art to the left, you know what I’m talking about.

Anyway, this particular piece of spam that caught my eye was touting a service that helps independents with health and retirement benefit plans, helps do paperwork, billing, get work, and several other things. I really don’t like the thought of supporting or doing business with people who advertise by spamming, but this looks like it might be useful to some folks out there. Hey, anyone that is a 1099 should know about MyBizOffice.

www.mybizoffice.com

This is a very cool service whereby 1099 independent contractors and other entrepreneurs can operate their business as an independent, and yet get real group benefits, a 401(k), and all the tax advantages of being with a big company. You can still work for as many clients as you want, on multiple projects.

Better yet, the company will invoice your clients for you, do your collections for you, and even help you take advantage of all the tax breaks you can get as a sole proprietor.

Good luck with the blogging and thanks for the space!
