CSWA-CSWP certification tests

I’ve been through the certification thing a few times. Back in 97 I had to be certified to do training and tech support after joining a reseller. I didn’t pass the tech support certification the first time. I was hired in May and took the test in June with just a couple of months of SW experience. I retook and passed in September. SW was a much simpler program in 1997.

Next, in 2002 I took the CSWP, the long test, and did all of the modeling problems so I could become a proctor. I was working for a reseller again. I passed with a good score.

Again in 2005 I took the tech support certification test. That test was by far the most difficult of any of the SW tests. Still working for resellers. Again passed with something over 90%.

Now in 2008, I’ve taken the new CSWA and CSWP. Big difference between the tests. I barely passed both tests, even though the tests were far easier than previous tests.

Has anyone else taken both the old and new CSWP? I’m going to write more about this later, but I want to hear what some of you think about the old test, the new test and certification altogether before I say anything.

What were your impressions of the tests?

  1. No prerequisite to take any of the tests but you should start with the associate test before proceeding to the CSWP especially if you’re a fairly new user.

  2. Hi there, i was confuse with the difference between CSWP and CSWA test.
Currently, i’m going to registered for the CSWA examination soon, but is it a prerequisite to take the CSWA test before we proceed to CSWP test?
Or i could just choose to proceed with CSWP test ?
I’ve completed all Essential & Advances SW programs.
Hope you could advice on this, thanks.
