More Examples of Work from Solid Edge

Art Patrick is one of the truly gifted folks in the Solid Edge product management role. After a previous post of stuff from Dan Vinson, Art also sent me a few things. Art is in charge of the Assemblies area of Solid Edge, and if you get the chance to attend one of his presentations at Solid Edge University, it is well worth your time. He knows what he’s talking about and he’s entertaining. Rare combination.

I think it’s important that guys like Dan Vinson and Art Patrick do models is that you don’t really have any idea of the strengths or weaknesses of the software until you use it. It would be so easy for them to have some academic detachment, but they really use the software.

Choppers and airplanes are fun things to model. I’m always interested to see how people handle propellers in motion. The blur is a tough thing to model without resorting to Photoshop. Plus, the B&W scheme here gives a cool WWII look.

Water is always difficult to work with in renderings.

I thought he was saving this one for a special purpose, but maybe he sent this as part of a hint to what he’s planning for his presentation at SEU. Not sure. That’s a big ship, though. Wonder what he has inside of it?

      1. Dan,

Yes, it is Keyshot. Modeling in Solid Edge and rendering in Keyshot. This is a winning pairs! 😉
But here is a complex mold tool what was planned and rendered in Solid Edge:

  1. Glad to see some of Art design,

The seedoo is something that was part of V14 demo when they enhance the surface with BlueSurf (or around the same time). So imagine probably 12 years before now surface design was quite advance for that time.

The Solid Edge Sea has something special that we cannot see from here. Art present this at the SEU13 but we have to keep this info for us.

Will let him speak about the details of this model if he show up here to comment.

Art and Dan produce very nice demo…. But lets not forget others in the team, I remember a guitar from jeff I think and couple other that should be display.
