SolidWorks on Android
I was just looking for a viewer, but then I saw this:
Pretty impressive. The Android app for Remote Desktop is about $25, but if you use this for business travel, it should pay for itself quickly. (Android VNC is free). Not sure you”d do any real modeling, but then you”d have access to your entire PC back at the office from anywhere you have a cell signal. Definitely cool. It”s hard to say if this is a looser tether, or a leash that you wear more frequently. It”s necessary to just really unplug here and there, but the ability to do this is certainly worth something. Maybe this isn”t new, but I just came across it and found this SolidWorks demo by accident.

I have used TeamViewer for all of my remote applications via iPhone or Samsung Tab2. It has never missed a beat, regardless of the remote application I start. It is free for single user. Gotta cough up some $$ for multi-user stuff.
I’ve been doing this on my PSP for years!
There are also similar apps for the iPad and with its larger screen size, it’s more practical. One can only assume with the coming flood of iPad lookalikes this type of remote access will be fairly common for Apple’s iOS, Android and QNX for the new RIM Playbook.
androidVNC is free. Got it downloaded and hope to waste some time on it this week.
Very cool! I have used a vnc app for android before, but it never occurred to me that I could use it to do modeling in solidworks. Great post, Matt!
I just got a DroidX and am very close to getting VPN working so I can log into our CRM tools. I might have to test this out. Just read through the comments and this app was highly ranked. Thanks for the find.
