SolidWorks World 2008
It’s that time again already! Time to get excited about SolidWorks World 2008. Last year I made a ton of new friends, made new business contacts, learned new SolidWorks skills, and saw a bunch of new and interesting products that might make my work easier, faster or more accurate. I can’t deny that I also drank a few beers and had a few laughs. SolidWorks World is the best combination of work and fun that you can come up with. There are so many things going on at SWW that you have to make choices. Sometimes the choices are difficult. I have one goal for SWWorld this year, and that is to actually make it to the SWUGN Group Leader Meeting. I had 3 things scheduled for the same time slot last year, and missed the meeting. Oops. I’ll have to hire a secretary this year to keep me straight. Richard, if its any consolation, I still feel bad about that. I owe you a few…If you sign up early, you can save a few hundred bucks on the admission price. If you’re on the fence, tell your boss it’s a customized training session with the choice of 150+ sessions to choose from over the course of 3 days. It really is amazing the amount of information that is traded at SWWorld! Better yet, if you sign up to present a session, you can get in for free! That’s great incentive to share some of what you know, and part of what makes this such a great event, year after year. The last two years I have presented 3 sessions. That’s a lot of work coming up with all of that material, and having it all ready to go at the same time. This year I’m only going to submit 2. I have already submitted the first, which is entitled “SolidWorks Relationship Counseling”, covering making parametrics a less painful process, and if other years have been any indication, a few laughs thrown in for good measure.
I need help on my second topic. I’d like to do something that is relevant and needed. The past two years I’ve done tips and tricks sessions which are a lot of fun, and people seem to like them. What kinds of things would you like to see presented at SWW08? Here is a list of suggestions I gave someone who asked on one of the email lists earlier this year. Any favorites or additional suggestions?
