T-Splines Contest Starts June 1, 2011

Have you got your T-Splines yet? Well?!?!? T-Splines are the people making strides in surfacing for SolidWorks. TSelements is an inexpensive plugin for SolidWorks that allows you to use TSplines incredible technology right inside the SolidWorks window. There’s far more to it than that, so you have to go on over to the TSplines site, and getchu somma dat. For those of you who are a little slow, Tsplines is push-pull surfacing with mesh-modeling ease of use, and NURBS accuracy.

Ok, the contest. The rules for the contest are again, over on the TSplines site. There are several categories: Jewelry, Transit, Consumer Products, Architecture, and Misc. I’m one of the judges for the consumer products category. I’ve been told I’m not allowed to accept bribes, but if you just draw something nice, I’ll give you nice marks, m’kay? There is also a special prize for the best use of TS Elements for SolidWorks, so SW users have an automatic shot at an extra prize.

If you haven’t seen TSplines, or TSelements and you work in any of these industries, you’re behind the curve and have a little catch up to do. Fortunately, the stuff is not hard to learn, and if you have a talent for 3D sculpting, it will show with this software. Really, stuff like this is the tug-and-pull that NURBS-based designers drool over. Bring mesh modeling ease of use to manufacturing quality NURBS surfacing data.

Download some trial software or just go out and buy it, it’s not that expensive. You’ve got until August 9 to put together something jaw dropping. Make something you just can’t make in SolidWorks.

So, why are you still here, reading my lame stuff? Get your can on over to the TSplines site, read the rules, see what you can win, buy you some software, and get started wowing judges! Don’t you understand?!? You are being freed from the constraints of plane-sketch-feature-plane-sketch-feature and the world of accidental 3D – do something intentional. UseTSplines to express the shape that you really intend.
