New Addition to Surfacing Episode and ID Contest Winners
There were entries for the ID sketch contest announced earlier, and the winners are Rodrigo Lima of Lime Design and Jeff Mowry of Industrial Designhaus. Rodrigo and Jeff will receive free 1 year subscriptions to the Dezignstuff Surfacing Episode site.
I think you can agree that these will be fun to interpret into 3D models without further input.
There will be new chapters added to the Episode site based on these sketches. The Episode site is all about encountering real-world data and problems. So in this case the problem will be that you only have one view of a 3D part. What does the rest of the part look like? And can you make the 3D model fit the spirit of intent from the ID sketch? I will walk you through my interpretation and maybe branch out into alternate solutions, dealing with all of the modeling problems we encounter head on. My examples are not sterilized of errors, you get to see how I work through problems I encounter, and suggest solutions based on my professional experience. I have videos for each chapter, as well as download models.
Thanks to all who submitted sketches! This kind of work is fun and rewarding, and leaves a lot of room for creativity. Later on we may have another contest for CAD users to submit models based on one of these sketches to see how many different approaches we see. I always learn from seeing different ways to solve the same problem.
