New Models Added to Surfacing Site
I’ve added a few new models to the surfacing site, which is coming along nicely. The end of the year push to get this thing up and running is coming together and I might just be able to deliver on time.
This 63 vette was something I created in 2006 and abandoned because it didn’t turn out very good. So I’m making some fixes and resurrecting it.
Also going up is a motocross helmet I made last summer. It includes elements of real equestrian helmets I modeled for a prominent helmet manufacturer several years ago.
One of the big differences between the Episodes site and the typical stuff you find on youtube is that I include the decision making process and how I got around the problems I encountered while doing the work. The real world includes a lot of things you don’t expect. No one ever hires you to re-model something you saw on youtube, but they might hire you to solve a set of problems, or make decisions about modeling.
Another new model added to the site is this bottle. The chapter on the bottle includes stuff you want to know about the shell feature, how to add raised ridges to shapely models like this, some details about layout sketching and how to make the most of the SelectionManager. It even includes some visualization tips on how to critique models while they’re still in the computer. It’s so much cheaper and faster to find mistakes before you have a mold made of steel.
And… there will be more. I’m working on kitchen utensils and of course a chapter devoted to the rubber duckie, which I know is what most people are asking about.
If you’re waiting for the next book-length surfacing book update in the last decade (since 2008), you don’t have much longer to wait.
Are they under the example section only? I see only helmet is up and that too its image.
