Realize Live 2022
Next week I’m presenting at my first post-covid work related conference. It’s being held in Vegas, one sure way to get people to brave airports, airplanes, and crowded spaces. Realize Live is what used to be called PLM World. If you have been reading this blog for a while, you might remember that other experiences I’ve had with PLM World were perhaps leaving some room for improvement. But… I’m older and possibly wiser, and at a minimum at least more prepared for what to expect. It still seems pretty stiff and formal in comparison to what I’m used to. So no shorts and sandals, I’m going to have to dig deeper in my Work At Home wardrobe and find something that’s not pajamas.
Realize Live is Siemens Digital engineering technology conference. It’s Siemens equivalent to Dassault’s 3DX World, although I haven’t been to 3DX World. So NX, Teamcenter, Solid Edge, etc. The up side is that there’s a lot of interesting stuff going on. The downside is that most of it is not related to mid-range products. Also, if you look a little deeper, this is probably not so much an end user event as a technology management event. The presentations are less how-to, and more case studies, what’s possible, stuff you’d use to communicate with managers.
I’m presenting on two topics, Making Real World Models with Subd, and Integrating Multiple Data Sources. I’m not sure if either of these will be live streamed, but that is an option for some of the presentations. Subd will be Tuesday May 10 11:15 am (pacific) and the Multiple Data Sources will be Wednesday at 2:45, I think. Of the two, the money seems to be on the subd topic to be the more interesting, and after writing the presentations, I’d agree. They gave me a bigger room for that presentation. It’s still kind of a new and interesting topic, and most people there don’t know who I am.
If you’re interested in the event, seeing the live stream stuff and just seeing what’s going on, here’s a link:
Matt, I would agree with your synopsis of Realize Live, and really the only thing that changed between PLM World is that Realize Live is wholly ran by Siemens where PLM World was ran by the PLM World Board of Directors which were elected users.
For those looking for end user content in the Solid Edge area without much travel or expense, I suggest you check out the Solid Edge University events hosted by the Partners. They are typically free or very low cost, they are usually regional, and are usually 1 day, and all Solid Edge related!

I shouldn’t have said “the only thing that changed”… Much has changed, but who runs it was the biggest change.
