Solid Edge Huntsville User Group Meeting

hsvseugYesterday Dave Ault led a User Group meeting for Solid Edge users in the Huntsville, Alabama office of Solid Edge. There were 33 some users on hand for this first meeting. The meeting was supported by Swoosh and Saratech resellers, as well as the Solid Edge corporate guys.  Dave put a summary of the session on his blog. I talked with Dave today about the meeting, and it sounds like the user round table, where users got to ask questions about things that concerned them was probably the biggest success, with plenty of interaction, and users feeling that they did something useful with their time.

Dave is already looking forward to the next group meeting. This should be an encouragement for other Solid Edge users who would like to start local groups. If you want to get started, leave a comment here on this blog, or contact me independently, and I’ll make sure you get in touch with the right people.

The advantages of user groups again are that you can share technical information with other users, in a sales-free environment. Meeting other local professionals involved with the same tools can help you in many ways in your career. Also, these groups give Edge users a stronger collective voice when asking for new features or fixes. You will have a method of communicating with Solid Edge brass. Best of all, these meetings are free, and even offer giveaways and some sort of food. The user groups are generally run by users, although some may be run by resellers.

The point here is that the software and the community of users are both on the surge, and it is an exciting time to be a new Solid Edge user.

  1. Hey Matt, thanks for the post! I think you meant “… user meeting for Solid Edge users” (first sentence), not SolidWorks, right? Not that I would mind SolidWorks users joining!
