CADENAS Solid Edge Part Community
Recently looking through some mobile viewers I came across a CADENAS Gmbh Android app for getting standard CAD models for a number of standard machinery parts. The SolidWorks part of this was very out of date, and didn’t work because it relied on a macro to build the part, and a 2001 macro won’t work in 2013. So since we’ve been talking about standard parts for Solid Edge on this blog recently, I found that CADENAS also has a desktop app for standard models. I had some trouble getting the Java viewer to work in IE 9, but it seemed to work fine in Firefox.
Some of you have expressed dissatisfaction with some of the standard part libraries for Solid Edge. The CADENAS library has more sophisticated parts than just nuts and bolts, but does this have models that you find useful? Is it more of a marketing ploy than a useful tool? What tools are the most useful for standard purchased parts and equipment?
Hi,
Solid Edge prefers two web based parts catalogs, here are two videos about them.

After downloading parts you may add them to your Standard Parts database…

Matt, i you click the help icon locate top right, on the right panel, you should find a link to the cadanas web site.
Also, if i remember correctly ( do not have ST5 install as of now) on the welcome screen, bottom right it suppose to have a link.
If you register you can install a small apps that allow you to download file tirecty into your assembly.
Correction after installing back ST5, the link is only available on the welcome screen under favorite links
